Meet The Team
I'm happily celebrating my sixth year with Family and Children First Council, my third in Franklin County alongside the BBL team, which focuses on trauma competency and resilience-based practices centered around Dr. Perry's NeuroSequential Model. In my (very limited) free time, you'll find me hiking, road cycling, or having dance parties with my four children. I am in my first year as a Ph.D. student in Educational Policy as well as my second year in my second Masters in Law Studies, both degrees at The Ohio State University with the long-term goal of impacting policy around the school-to-prison pipeline and other systemic reform.
I'm a licensed clinical social worker who graduated from The Ohio State University. I now have over 15 years of experience working with children, adolescents and families, in settings ranging from teaching high school, counseling children in residential treatment, and tutoring children with autism. My passion for social work led me to train in Trauma-Informed Care through the NeuroSequential Model, developed by Dr. Bruce Perry. I'm in my third year with FCFC full-time after contracting with the agency to provide trauma-informed coaching for a few years previously. I also like to play guitar and sing songs with my two daughters.
I am in my third year as a resilience coach with the BBL team. Before I transitioned to coaching, I worked for 11 years in the classroom. I was an intervention specialist in middle and high school and I also taught general education math at both the intermediate and high school levels. Brain-based and trauma-informed principles were a big part of how I built the culture of my classrooms. I am passionate about supporting you as you meet the needs of all your students and work toward your professional learning goals.
I’ve been coaching with FCFC since 2019. Prior to this I worked with youth and families as a counselor and parenting educator. I love that in my role as a BBL coach, I have the opportunity to build relationships with teachers and help them integrate trauma informed practices into their classrooms.
I began my professional career as a second grade teacher where I discovered my love for brain based education. As soon as I found FCFC I knew it was where I wanted to be, supporting teachers as a trauma informed, brain based coach. I share my home in Westerville with my wonderful husband, Mitchell, my two year old son, 11 month old daughter, and two dogs. My favorite way to regulate is a great podcast and a long run. I am so excited to partner with you and your team!
I am a career educator and have been a BBL coach since 2019. I am passionate about how transformative brain-based, trauma-informed concepts can be to a school community. The work educators do daily continues to inspire me and I look forward to collaborating and supporting you on this journey.
Outside of serving as a trauma-informed coach, I've been serving as a trauma-informed therapist since 2018. I am deeply committed to helping others stay connected with themselves and connected to the people who matter to them. When I'm not serving our community, you can usually find me laughing with my husband, reading, biking, or playing with my Beagle, Rico. I look forward to supporting you and getting to know you!
I've been with FCFC as a trauma-informed coach since the 2016 school year. Before joining the BBL team, I worked for over 15 years with youth and families, mostly home/community-based, within the juvenile justice system. I have a passion for restorative justice and restorative circles. I'm married with two young adult children and have a dog named Lucy. I love being with my friends and family, listening to live music, cooking, being outdoors, and learning new things. I'm so proud to partner with you!
